We were a table of three and made a late reservation on the same day. Despite this, we were warmly welcomed, and the service was excellent from start to finish. The gentleman who served us was polite, professional, and attentive without being intrusive. Service was prompt, and the staff maintained a keen eye on our table, ensuring everything was just right—even with subtle check-ins. As for the food, it was absolutely marvelous. We started with poppadoms and dips, a perfect way to awaken our palates for what was to come. Each of us then enjoyed a different dish: one king prawn, one korma curry, and one lamb special, all accompanied by wonderfully flavorful rice. The peshwari naan was a delicious addition, complementing our mains beautifully. We didn’t have dessert—simply because there was no room left! The portions are generous, ensuring you won’t leave hungry. On the contrary, you'll leave satisfied, having enjoyed a calm, fulfilling meal bursting with flavors. The only small room for improvement would be ensuring that the double doors to the outside are never open at the same time, as it can cause a rush of cold air into the dining area. That said, I highly recommend this restaurant !

In Winchester for one night with work stumbled upon the light of Bengal. I always have a "go to curry" when eating at a new Asian restaurant. For me it's Dansak. What a treat. Thick tasty and spice without detracting from flavour. The description for Dansak is sweet and hot the Bengal was exactly that..Dansak perfection for me. Came to the table nice and hot with Fantastic pilau rice which had crispy onions on top that worked a treat. The glass of house red wine was a superb accompaniment. The boys who serve have a polite calm manner Cheers fellas. Highly recommended JP (Reggies dad)

We had the whole restaurant to ourselves. Our server was so sweet and gave us a free drink onion bajhis before we paid. I will definitely be coming back here again

Our new favourite Indian in Winchester! Always get a great meal when we come here. Service is personable and the atmosphere cozy. It isn't the biggest of restaurants with only a few tables, but it adds to the charm. Another nice thing is the music isn't blasting out at some crazy volume. Chicken achar is a favourite, onion bajhis flavourful and buttery naan bread.

My wife and I had a special evening planned and decided to give the Light of Bengal a try after hearing from many people that it was an "old school" restaurant serving high quality, traditional dishes. I am happy to report that the LoB exceeded our expectations in every way and have earned a couple of new loyal customers. Our server Aziz could not have been more friendly and helpful, guiding us through the menu and helping us to select a few dishes we had never had before. My wife ended up ordering the Bengal Railway Lamb, while I decided on the Achar chicken. Both were outstanding, with tender meat and incredibly delicious sauces that were seasoned to perfection. Together with the House Special Rice and Peshwari Naan, we left the restaurant full and extremely satisfied with our meal and are grateful to have found a new "favorite" place to go when we are craving South Asian cuisine. Special thanks again to Aziz for making our entire anniversary dinner experience a memorable one.
